The Academy of the Pacific is pleased to present “50 and Forward” a 50th Anniversary Fundraising Gala being held at the Oahu Country Club in majestic Nu`uanu Valley,Honolulu, on Friday, May 11, 2012, 5:30 p.m. and we are excited to be part of the fundraising gala. AOP has been in the business of educating our brightest students for 50 years. From their inception, their mission has been to be a “small school with a big impact”, and they have fulfilled their promise year after year.

We were more than happy to donate a 90 minute stand up paddle lesson to be auctioned off at the fundraiser. If you are familiar with AOP and want to help a good cause while getting in on the SUP action too, this gala is the place to be. Click here for more information.

Of course we hope that you go and bid on the Waikiki Stand Up Paddle Lesson, but we have heard there will be all kinds of killer items on auction and we wouldn’t miss it. If you do win our lesson, we will meet you at Ala Moana beach park for a one and a half hour lesson out on the beautiful flat water. I was just out there today with a new student and it really is the perfect place to learn. Gorgeous environment and the perfect body of water. We’ll start with basic water safety instruction and then show you how to hold the paddle and instruct you on basic paddle technique. From there, I’ll show you how to get your leash on your leg, get the SUP board in the water, and get up on your board. By the end of the 90 minutes, you’ll be enjoying a paddle up and down the SUP corridor at Ala Moana.
