PS~
We’ve seen and talked to a lot of people out on the beach at Waikiki. Canoes is one of the most popular surf breaks for visitors, but is not the ideal spot to learn how to SUP. I see many folks trying to stand up on the board over and over, only to fall in the big blue.
Catching your first wave in Hawaii is a thrill you will never forget. If you jump out in the waves your first day out, I can almost guarantee a lot of frustration.
If you try to stand up for the first time while waves are rolling in, you are going to find yourself in the ocean more than you will be on the board. You want some flat water on your first day and that is why we like Ala Moana beach park for stand up paddle lessons in Waikiki. There is a great piece of beach with protected water. It’s the perfect place for getting your sea legs.
It is possible to learn at Canoes the beaches at Kuhio Park area, but we will only teach private lessons so we can keep a close eye on you and make sure you have a enjoyable experience.
